From Charlotte this fly drive drive climbs north into the Blue Ridge Mountains and Asheville with all its distinctive charm. Nearby is the Biltmore Estate and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Drag yourself away from Asheville to the Historic Community of Winston-Salem and on to Durham and the State Capital of Raleigh. From here move on to the Coast, near the Outer Banks and the site of the first British settlements on Roanoke Island, at Manteo. The drive along this remarkable coastline via New Bern to Wilmington and Cape Fear is fascinating. Wilmington has one of the nations largest historic commercial districts, extending over 200 blocks. The journey then continues north returning to Charlotte.
